***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Chapters 7-9 of Haunting Adeline begin to lean into the “dark” category the author embraces. After weeks of stalker gifts and writing herself into a plot hole, Adeline and Daya hit the town. They meet a pretty sketchy group of men at a club and, surprise surprise, Zade is NOT happy about it. Addie receives a text attempting to deter her from proceeding any further with her tall, dark, and handsome friend Archibald Talavera, but of course she’s determined to out stubborn her stalker.

Refusing to heed her base instincts, Adeline brings Archie home and things get steamy….in full view of her stalker. While she cannot see him, she knows he’s there, and when things begin to go further than his liking he puts a stop to it. While trying to run off the person responsible for ruining his night with Addie, Mr. Archibald finds himself victim to an awful headache. Zade takes Archie, who we learn is high level in a crime family, and punishes him for touching what doesn’t belong to him.

Addie, left alone-and with no clue as to what has happened to her evening companion beyond the bloody roses left behind- contacts the police. As their investigation at the scene ensues, Addie learns the level of danger she was in by involving herself with Archie. Additionally it appears all records pertaining to her reports concerning her stalker have disappeared.

Deidra and I both found Zade’s thoroughness, both in stalking of Adeline and removal of obstacles, to be unmatched by any other thus far. We still love Daya and Adeline’s friendship, and are loving Adeline’s gothic, author vibe.

We are left with the following questions however.

1)WHERE ARE THE GHOSTS?! We’re excited to delve into this with the frequency that they are mentioned.

2)We’re still looking to know who killed Gigi, but we now also want to know if John finds out about her emotional affair, given how much suspicion he’s raised due to changes in her behavior.

3)Will Zade and Addie’s story begin to more closely parallel Gigi’s?
