Haunting Adeline Read Along Part 7/9

Haunting Adeline Chapters 19-21

Chapter 19 finds Zade initially reflecting on his most recent actions with Adeline. He has a moment of self awareness, realizing the hypocrisy of what he does for a living given the fact that he’s now twice assaulted Adeline. It poses an interesting conundrum for him. He doesn’t have long to ponder on it though as he is interrupted by his right hand man informing him he has scored exclusive tickets to Satan’s Affair to continue the mission. Reluctantly Zade agrees to go.

Two days after his last interaction with Adeline Zade attempts to begin flirty conversation with her. Addie is having no part of it and asks if he knew her great grandmother was killed by a stalker. He reveals he did know. Adeline begins ranting and his response is to call her. She answers and they have a back and forth and as an attempt to stump Zade, Addie reveals Max knows she has a stalker who he blames for the death of Arch. Zade makes no qualms about letting her know he should be the scariest thing in her life, alluding to him planning to handle Max as well.

Chapter 20 has Zade on a mission to protect his girl. He pays Max a visit and with some “aggressive negotiations,” convinces him to leave both Addie and Daya alone moving forward. He also begins his infiltration of the child trafficking ring. He ingratiates himself to Mark via a series of games of poker. An opportunity presents itself to save one of the girls working in that wretched environment and Zade successfully does so.

Our diary entry is from July 4th 1945. Gigi is upset, hiding from a drunk John instead of prepping for their big cookout. John has been taking his frustration out on Sera, and Gigi is glad to have their mutual friend Frank present, in hopes that he might have a handle on John.

Our questions now become:

1) Did John possibly kill Gigi, or was he somehow involved?

2)How will things go with Zade’s interactions with Mark?

3)Will we see Sibby in the upcoming trip to Satan’s Affair?
