***Spoilers ahead***

Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton Chapters 10-12

We got a TON of information in these chapters, so strap in!

Daya, Adeline’s bestie, works for Zade as a hacker for his organization, Z. She just doesn’t know she is trying to protect her bestie from her employer. I questioned this since Adeline mentioned that Daya worked as a hacker. And how we find out! Woah.

Zade takes down an entire minor criminal organization because Adeline chose to try to hook up with one. He had to watch her get fingered by Arch when he knew what kind of man he was. Zade wasn’t going to allow for him to take her to the bedroom since Arch was a true sadist. Arch Talaverra put his wife in a mental asylum after beating her to the point she was nearly dead. Arch went chasing after who he thought was one of his enemies and met Death after some time with Zade. Zade did follow through with his hand threat. Delivering them the next day when Adeline was distracted by the postman. And this is where we get the major hint Daya works for Zade. In response to Adeline’s concerns about her disposing of the box, she advises the hands are nothing compared to what she sees daily at work.

We also saw some of Zade’s trauma in these chapters. He received a video of a child used in a rituallistic sacrifice. He made a great point, the only people who could stomach that are the ones committing the acts. He is definitely truly affected by these atrocities he is trying to stop.

Adeline confronts Zade. Physically shoves him when he is standing outside her house just staring. She had enough and just broke. When it comes to fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, our girl is a fighter! Dumb, but a fighter! Now that she knows he is hot, she is less freaked out. Rich men and hot men are given more leniency when they are creeps.

We got Gigi’s last entry, but there is a page missing. The last entry that is in the diary has no kiss and the simple, yet hard hitting words, “He came for me.” Still don’t know who murdered her, but we think her ghost or the ghost of Nana is trying to help solve the mystery. (Zade also confirmed that at least one ghost exists in the house as he had to tell it to screw off on one of his “visits”.)
