Haunting Adeline Read Along Part 5/9

Haunting Adeline Chapters 13-15

Starting in chapter 13 we have our first ghost sighting! A ghost, who Adeline believes to be Gigi, leads her to the attic where she discovers two clues. The first is a written confession to Gigi’s murder, but the identity of the murderer remains a mystery. The second is the missing page from Gigi’s diary which begins to identify who her attacker was but unfortunately cuts off before a name can be given, much to Adie’s frustration and ours!

Zade returns to watch Addie at night, she can still see him, though much of his face remains obscured. She pretends to contact police and Zade calls her bluff. In a series of back and forth texts, he advises her that if she follows through with her threats she will be punished. She makes the call.

Adeline later confides in our favorite, her best friend Daya, this information and voices her concerns that her stalker may hack her phone. Daya establishes some security measures for Addie on the device. We also learn bad guy Luke has been messaging Daya concerning Addie’s involvement with the death of Arch.

Our diary entry reveals tension between Gigi and both her stalker turned lover Ronaldo, and she is dealing with some jealousy over her still existing marriage to John.

Chapter 14 sees the end of Addie’s evening with Daya, and the girls make plans to visit Satan’s Affair for some haunted house fun. The night takes a turn after Daya leaves, with Addie receiving more texts from Zade. He begins taunting her and reveals he is in her home.

A diary entry for this chapter reveals that Gigi and Ronaldo have evidently made up and taken a weekend getaway, leaving Gigi to deal with the guilt of her affair, and how it will affect her daughter.

Chapter 15 contains many triggers so we will spare you those details. Suffice to say, Addie finally sees the entirety of Zade’s face, recognizing him from her bookstore signing. She is both scared and attracted to the mysterious man. After giving her the opportunity to run a game of chase ensues, and our cat catches the mouse.

Our diary entry reveals Gigi has been using her daughter as a buffer between herself and her husband to avoid fighting as his suspicions grow, and his heart breaks.
